Took part in the battles of Hatcher’s Run, Virginia, 5-7 Feb 1865; Gravelly Run, Virginia, 1 Apr 1865, and Five Forks, Virginia, 1 Apr 1865, and he was said to be at the surrender of General Lee. Anderson was sent to Harewood Hospital in Washington DC on 20 Apr 1865, and he died there of typhoid fever on 19 May 1865. Buried in National Cemetery at Arlington, Virginia. Anderson died 9 Jul 1893 in Goodhue County, Minnesota, of injuries suffered in a fall from atop a load of hay. He is buried in Dale churchyard, Cherry Grove township, Goodhue County.
