MN 2nd Cav Co B. Residence: Medalia, Brown County, Minneswota. Born “Sjur Hansen Ulvestad” on 4 Oct 1847 at Balestrand, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway, son of Hans Jørgensen Ulvestad and Synneve Olsdatter Dræge. Came to America with his parents on “Dorothea”, which sailed from Bergen and reached New York on 5 Jul 1848. They came to Spring Valley Township, Rock County, Wisconsin, and moved about 1858 to Medelia Township, Brown County, Minnesota. Civil War: Post war: He died in April 1871. Sources: (Naeseth ’48-410)
