TX 46th Cav Co B. CSA. Born Nils Knutsen Underbakke on 17 Oct 1829 at Suldal, Norway. Civil War: Enlisted for one year on 1 Feb 1862 at Stephenville, Texas, as a Private in McCord’s Frontier Regiment. Reenlisted for three years on 20 Dec 1862 at Camp Salmon, Texas. Private. Assigned to Co E. On furlough 16 Jun – Aug 1863. Was assigned to shell corn for his company from 10 Oct – Dec 1863. Assigned to obtain pack mules from 21 Dec 1863 through Jan 1864. Deserted at Eagle Lake, Texas, on 2 Aug 1864, but rejoined his company on 4 Oct 1864. Post war: Died 27 Dec 1914 in Bosque County, Texas.
