Born “Truls Erlandsen Gutterud” in 1826 at Sigdal, Buskerud, Norway, son of Erland Snærsrud. Married Anne Torjusdatter Ringnes. He came to America with his wife and infant son on “Embla”, which sailed out of Christiania on 9 May 1849 and arrived in New York on 6 Jul 1849. They came to Jordan Township, Green County, Wisconsin, and by 1855 they were in the Holden settlement of Goodhue County, Minnesota.
