An obituary for Gilbertson’s father, Ole [Gudbrandson] Gilbertson, published in Northwood Index, Northwood, Iowa, states that three sons, Gilbert Gilbertson, Nels Gilbertson and Iver Gilbert, all served in the Civil War: Private.
