HAUGHLAND, Harold
US Navy. Born in Norway. First World War: Went down in the naval patrol boat Tampa, sunk 26 Sep 1918 in the Bristol Channel off the coast of England, victim of a German U-Boat. The Tampa, formerly the Coast Guard cutter Miami, was torpedoed while escorting a convoy. Ten officers and 102 enlisted men, most of them taken over from the Coast Guard service, one British army officer and five civilian employes were on board. There were no survivors.
