Enlisted for three years on 17 Aug 1861 at Chicago. Mustered there on 11 Sep 1861. Private. Re-enlisted as a Veteran on 1 Jan 1864 at Hilton Head, South Carolina. Re-mustered there on 25 Jan 1864.
