Born Even Julsen Haaverud on 6 Jun 1841 in Nord Aurdal, Valders, Oppland, Norway, son of Jul Knujdsen Svanheld and Marit Julsdatter Haaverud. He came to America with his parents and five siblings on Syttende Mai, which sailed from Bergen about 12 May 1849 and arrived in New York on 26 Jun 1849. They came to Blue Mounds Township, Dane County, and moved soon to Perry Township. Civil War: Age 21. Unmarried. Farmer. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 510. Enlisted for three years on 8 Nov 1861 in Dane County and mustered 8 Dec 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Designated Corporal. Reduced to ranks on 2 Sep 1862, by order of Col. H. C. Heg. Left sick in general hospital at Chattanooga, Tennessee, on 28 Nov 1863. Died there of chronic diarrhea, 2 Jan 1864. Buried in National Cemetery at Chattanooga; section D, grave 669. They came to Blue Mounds Township, Dane County, and moved soon to Perry Township. Civil War: Age 23. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 8 Nov 1861 in Dane County. Mustered 6 Jan 1862 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Left sick in hospital at Bowling Green, Kentucky, on 16 Sep 1862. Sick in Nashville, Tennessee, 8 Aug 1863; and in Nashville 11 Nov 1863; and in Evansville, Indiana, 15 Sep 1863. In hospital at Chattanooga, Tennessee, since 11 Oct 1863. Mustered out with Company E in Chattanooga, 20 Dec 1864. Post war: Married 9 Feb 1862 to Marthe Halvorsdatter Aalberg (c1842-1933). Moved to Waseca, Minnesota, in 1866 and to Moody County, South Dakota, in 1878. Lived in Flandreau, Moody County. Died 1926. Buried in Union Cemetery in Flandreau, lot I-16, block I-16, grave 3. Enlisted for three years on 7 Sep 1861 at Waupun. Mustered 5 Oct 1861 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Private. John Julson died of disease in December 1862 (red book shows Nov 1863) at Louisville, Kentucky. - WI 50th Inf Co H. Residence: Waterloo, Grant County, Wisconsin. Born Ole Juelsen Hoverud on 4 Mar 1825 in Nord-Aurdal, Oppland, Norway, son of Jul Knudsen Hoverud and Marit Julsdatter. Married 15 Mar 1848 to Randi Engebretsdatter Øspeli. They came to America with his brother Knud, a sister Marit and a cousin on the Statsraad Vogt, which sailed from Bergen and reahed New York on 3 Jul 1848. Civil War: Farmer. Age 40. Married. Blue eyes, light hair, dark complexion, 59. Enlisted for one year on 10 Mar 1865 at Boscobel, Grant County. Mustered there the same day. Bounty $100, $33.33 paid. Private. Captain Charles Cox, Company H, died 11 Jul 1865 from wounds received at hands of Private Ole Julson on board Steamer Post Boy on the Missouri River. On 10 Jul 1865, O. Julson jumped overboard from Steamer Post Boy on Missouri River and supposed to be drowned. Unit was on its way from Jefferson, Missouri, to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, at the time.
