IA 3rd Inf Co D. Residence: Decorah, Winneshiek County, Iowa. Born in Norway. Civil War: Age 32. Enlisted 20 May 1861. Mustered 8 Jun 1861. Private. Wounded in hip severely 6 Apr 1862, at Shiloh, Tennessee. Discharged from the service 16 Oct 1862 on account of those wounds. Gilbert Knudston of Albert Lea, Freeborn County, Minnesota, was granted a pension of $4.00 for gunshot wounds in both thighs. Died 18 Mar 1894. Buried at Silver Lake Cemetery, Worth County, Iowa.
