He came to America with his parents and siblings on the brig Juno, which sailed from Arendal, Aust Agder, on 4 Jul 1849 and arrived in New York on 18 Aug 1849. They came to Winneconne Township, Winnebago County. Civil War: Farmer. Age 19. Unmarried. Blue eyes, brown hair, light complexion, 57. Enlisted for one year on 1 Sep 1864 at Madison, Wisconsin, and mustered there on 5 Sep 1864. Bounty $100. Private. Discharged from the service 16 Jun 1865. Post war: He lived in Hansen, Wood County, Wisconsin.
