TX 7th Inf Co A. CSA. Born Christian Olsen Strand on 30 Jun 1831 at Elverum, Norway. From Hedemarken, Norway. Civil War: Farmer. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 56. Enlisted for three years or the war on 1 Oct 1861 at Marshall, Texas. Private. Taken prisoner at Fort Donelson, Tennessee, on 16 Feb 1862 and held at Camp Douglas, Illinois. Exchanged near Vicksburg, Mississippi, on 20 Sep 1862. Assigned extra duty as a butcher during January and February 1863. Was in a hospital at Yazoo City, Mississippi, in June and July 1863 and was taken prisoner there on 13 Jul 1863. He was taken to Cairo, Illinois, and there on 17 Aug 1863, he enlisted in the IL 58th Inf and served until his muster out on 1 Apr 1866 at Montgomery, Alabama. Post war: Lived in Cranfills Gap, Texas. Died 11 Feb 1915 in Bosque County, Texas.
