TRESNES, Knud K.
WI 44th Inf Co C. Residence: Iola, Wisconsin. Born at Froland at Arendal, Norway, 21 Nov 1829. Starting in 1847, he served as a ship’s cook on vessels carrying freight between various European ports. In 1853, he and a sister came on the ship “Victoria” to New Orleans, Louisiana, and made their way north to Chicago, where he signed aboard a lake schooner “St. Lawrence” for a year. In April 1855, he joined others of his siblings in Iola. On 26 Jul 1863, at Iola, he married Annie Halverson. Civil War: Enlisted at Waupaca, Wisconsin, in Oct 1864. Private. Discharged from the service in Aug 1865 at Paducah, Kentucky.
