IL 8th Cav Co M. Residence: Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Born in Norway. Civil War: Sailor. Age 26. Gray eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, 5’11½”. Enlisted for three years on 21 Jan 1864 at Chicago and mustered there on 31 Jan 1864. Private. He was a prisoner of war, and when he was mustered out with his company on 17 Jul 1865 at Benton Barracks, Missouri, no discharge was furnished him. Sources: (ILSA reel 14 p162)
