Director of Development
Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum seeks a Director of Development who will
be responsible for planning and implementing all resource development
activities for
the museum. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development
will develop a case for support reflecting the institution’s vision and
strategic plan; create a resource development plan; serve as the institution’s
major gifts officer, maintain a portfolio of major donors in a national
donor base; supervise development staff; track cultivation and solicitation
of gifts; oversee the development of fundraising and membership materials;
and present timely reports and financial data regarding development activity.
Requires extensive regional and national travel (60% of time).
The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field; 3-5 years of proven fundraising experience; the ability to work independently and as a team player; proven leadership ability; excellent organizational and communication skills; and the ability to build strong relationships with donors, trustees, volunteers, and staff members. Salary commensurate with experience.
