WI 24th Inf Co I. Born 19 Nov 1842 in Kristiania (Oslo) Norway. Came to America at age 19 and immediately enlisted. Civil War: Farmer. Age 19. Gray eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’6”. Enlisted for three years on 15 Aug 1862 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mustered there on 22 Aug 1862. Bonus paid $25. Private. Was in the battles of Perryville and Stone’s River. Transferred to the Invalid Corps on 1 May 1863. Served until the end of the war. Discharged from the service 31 Aug 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky. Post war: Lived in Rochester, Minnesota.
