Assigned to hospital service in Bowling Green, Kentucky, 17 Sep 1862. Assigned as escort to provision train from Sevenson, 13 Oct 1863. Absent due to illness on 24 Jan 1864. Taken prisoner during Battle of New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May 1864 and died of scorbutus (scurvy) in Andersonville Prison, 29 Oct 1864. Buried in Andersonville National Cemetery, grave 9997.
