Marie Mauseth Egge was born in 1878 in De Forest, Wisconsin, to Sjur and Marie Felland Maurseth, who had emigrated from Ulvik, Hordaland, Norway. Marie’s bunad or folk costume is from the Hardanger area from which her parents emigrated. Standing beside Marie is her daughter, Helen, who is about three years old and holds a bride doll with folk dress from Hardanger.
