Film Festival
Three inspiring films shown in Vesterheim’s Main Building!
1:00 p.m. Sweet Land (2005 PG, 110 min.)
3:30 p.m. Paper Clips (2004 G, 83 min.)
6:30 p.m. Cool and Crazy on the Road (2002 NR, 99 min.)
In Sweet Land, a young woman arrives in Minnesota in 1920 to marry a young Norwegian farmer, but her German heritage makes her an object of suspicion. Shot on location in Southern Minnesota, Sweet Land is a glorious film that tells a universal story of love, discovery, and the American immigrant experience.
Paper Clips is the moving documentary that captures how students in Whitwell, Tennessee, responded to lessons about the Holocaust with a promise to honor every lost soul by collecting one paper clip for each individual exterminated by the Nazis. The paper clip is a Norwegian invention that gained symbolic meaning during WWII.
Follow The Berlevag Male Choir in the engaging documentary Cool and Crazy on the Road, as they embark on their first tour of North America. The 30 Norwegian singers are from an isolated town in Northern Norway and range in ages from 30 to 90.
