Vesterheim Benefit Auction

Vesterheim announces the 6th Biennial Benefit Auction!
Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum’s Sixth Biennial Benefit Auction begins October 8 when outstanding folk art will be on view in person at Vesterheim or online at vesterheim.org. The viewing will be open from 1:00-5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, in Vesterheim’s Westby-Torgerson Education Center. Everyone is invited to bid in person, or by email, fax, or post.
The auction includes pieces by the most prominent contemporary artists working in the Norwegian folk arts of rosemaling, woodworking, fiber arts, and knifemaking. The contributing artists are Vesterheim Gold Medalists, award winners, or instructors. “Vesterheim is enormously grateful to the artists who have so generously contributed pieces to this year’s benefit auction,” said Laurann Gilbertson, Vesterheim Chief Curator.
The live and silent auction final event will be held October 22 at 8:00 p.m. Auction night is always entertaining. The excitement mounts as phone-in bidders compete back and forth with the on-site bidders, and usual Scandinavian reserve takes a back seat to the fun.
The evening will begin with a Gala Dinner at the Hotel Winneshiek at 5:30 p.m. Reservations for the dinner can be made by calling the museum at 563-382-9681 before October 17.
Proceeds from this year’s benefit auction will support projects directly related to the education program at Vesterheim.
