"Knit-In"

Join us in Decorah for a "Knit-In" at Vesterheim on November 3 and 4! Come for one day or both days. In addition to knitting and chatting, there will be special presentations, tours of Vesterheim's textile storage, and a stash sale.

The "Knit-In" has been organized by friends of Ann Swanson, a knitwear and needlepoint designer from Rochester, Minnesota, who passed away in 2009. A Knitting Education Fund was established at Vesterheim in her memory. The fund has sponsored classes in 2010 with Sue Flanders and Janine Kosel and in 2012 with Beth Brown Reinsel. Space is still available in Beth's classes (Knitting a Danish Nattrøje Sweater on November 1-2 and Knitting a Swedish Halland Sweater on November 5-6). For details and to register, contact Darlene Fossum-Martin, dfossum-martin@vesterheim.org, 563-382-9681.

Katie Carpenter, who with Ann founded the design business "Two Old Bags", is planning a small project that you can knit during the "Knit-In." The project is based on some notes and charts of Ann's. A kit of instructions, chart, and yarn will be available. There is no cost for the kit, but please indicate your interest in advance, if possible. Feel free to bring your own projects to work on.

There is no cost for the "Knit-In." You may wish to shop the Stash Sale of yarn, patterns, and notions donated by Bruce Swanson or make a donation to Vesterheim for the Ann Swanson Knitting Education Fund.

The "Knit-In" will be held on the third floor of Vesterheim's Westby-Torgerson Education Center, located on the corner of Water and Mechanic Streets in downtown Decorah. For directions, kit reservations, and questions, contact Laurann Gilbertson, lgilbertson@vesterheim.org, 563-382-9681. Hope to see you then!
