Barnetimen

Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum will begin a new season of Barnetimen (Children’s Hour) on Thursday, September 20, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. All pre-school-aged children and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend. The program is free.

Barnetimen is held the third Thursday of each month from September through May. This year’s theme is “Where in the World is Jan Brett?” During each session, a volunteer grandparent from the Decorah area will read a story by Jan Brett. The program also includes crafts, hands-on activities, and snacks.

“Jan Brett is a popular writer and illustrator of children’s books,” explained Martha Griesheimer, Vesterheim’s Barnetimen coordinator. “Her colorful drawings and stories from around the world, including Norway, are delightful,” she said.

The program will be held in the museum’s Westby-Torgerson Education Center.

Barnetimen programs are made possible through generous support from David and Brenda Carlson of Decorah.
