Youth Docent Program
Docents are trained volunteers who share their time and talents with an
organization. At Vesterheim, youth have always contributed volunteer hours
for a variety of programs and events. This year, Martha Griesheimer, coordinator
of volunteers, have developed
a special program for youth who would be interested in volunteering at least
15 hours a year at Vesterheim.
The program is designed to include sessions with Vesterheim curators and staff to learn the history of the Vesterheim collection and the techniques used to create the objects in the collection, as well as sessions on how to share information with the public when giving tours or volunteering at special events. Participation in the youth docent program is free.
