Dr. Maren Johnson, Luther College’s Associate Professor of Nordic Studies and Torgerson Center for Nordic Studies Director, facilitates a regular bokprat (book group), discussing Scandinavian authors and Scandinavian life. The November bokprat features Sagas of Luther College: Norwegian and Lutheran Identities Past, Present, and Future, edited by Dr. Maren Anderson Johnson and Rachel Faldet.
Sagas of Luther College: Norwegian and Lutheran Identities Past, Present, and Future is an edited anthology of fourteen essays exploring how Luther College has understood its identity as a higher educational institution with a clear ethnic heritage and strong faith tradition. The authors reflect on questions like: in the twenty-first century, what is the relevance of these identities today? What does it mean for students? How can the Norwegian and Lutheran values of the institution shape a community that is a place of belonging?
