Update – National Norwegian-American Folk Art Exhibition Canceled

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and our concern for the health and safety of our folk-art community, the 2020 National Norwegian-American Folk Art Exhibition has been canceled.

We look forward to a time when all of the components of the exhibition – submission, judging, and viewing – can be planned and implemented safely. We anticipate its return in 2021! Find out more about this annual exhibition here.

However, we know folk art is alive and thriving during this time of quarantine! Remember you can enter folk-art pieces into the exhibition that have been completed in the last three years prior to the exhibition date, so keep on working and save the items you were going to enter this year and enter them in 2021. We plan to have all exhibition and registration information online by March 1, 2021. Mark your calendars and keep on working!

In the meantime, stay connected with Vesterheim’s folk-art community through vesterheim.org, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. We continue to be uplifted by messages and photos of our folk-art community. Please post on your social media and tag Vesterheim! OR we invite you to post directly to our Official Vesterheim Facebook Group.

We’d love to see photos and descriptions of your work. What folk art inspires you? Who inspires you to do folk-art? Is there a connection between your work and Vesterheim’s collection or past programming?

Thanks again for your continued support! Although we are isolated due to social distancing, we feel very much supported by the rich and vast community of Vesterheim Folk Art School, and we hope you feel the same.

Keep creating, stay safe, and we’ll see you again at Vesterheim whenever it is possible!
