Introducing Blair Shaffer
As the new Visitor Services Assistant, Blair Shaffer has already learned how extensive the Vesterheim collection is with so many different kinds of artwork and objects. She’s impressed by how much guests see when they visit the museum. She said that she feels the diversity of the collection makes the museum so interesting. She also finds it fascinating how Norwegians change after their immigration to America and how Vesterheim tells that story so well.
In May, Blair started working in this new position with Director of Visitor Services Chivonne Marlow. Visitors will most likely encounter Blair on a tour, while working with the volunteers, or at special events such as Nordic Fest.
While she lived in Colorado until high school, Blair has become a Decorah native, graduating from Decorah High School and then Luther College.
Blair is enthusiastic about her position at Vesterheim. She especially enjoys engaging with the public, being involved in various events, and learning from the tour guides when she shadows tours. She loves that she always is busy, that every day is different, and that she is constantly learning. Blair even likes doing spreadsheets!
Welcome to Vesterheim, Blair! We’re glad you’re here to share your skills and friendliness.
