Folk Art Study Tour to Norway

Early Summer 2025

Vesterheim invites practicing folk artists and folk art enthusiasts to join us in 2025! We will explore and study traditional Norwegian folk art with a special emphasis on rosemaling. Join us as we journey through southern Norway experiencing the beauty of the Aust-Agder, Vest-Agder, Numedal, Ryfylke, and Telemark regions with stops in Kristiansand, Skien, Kongsberg, Rauland, Geilo, and Voss. The tour will include museum visits, presentations by scholars, studio visits with traditional artists, and historic sightseeing. Unique hands-on immersive experiences are also being planned. At every point along the way, we’ll delight in the spectacular scenery, delicious food, and warm hospitality that is Norway.
