Chelsea Bowen is an artist and handcrafter based in Duluth, Minnesota. She grew up in the magical woods of northern Minnesota and earned a degree in Scandinavian Studies from Gustavus Adolphus College. Chelsea’s previous role as the Educational Programs Coordinator at the American Swedish Institute connected her with her Nordic heritage in a new way through developing and teaching food, handcraft, and language classes. Chelsea speaks fluent Swedish and has spent time living and working in Sweden, including many hours logged in folk school craft classrooms. Over the years, she has experimented in fiber, glass, clay, and wood arts, but her favorite act of handcraft is kolrosing onto one of her hand-carved spoons or butter spreaders. Beyond art, her passions are cooking, foraging, and playing music for others.
