Barnetimen Childrens Hour

October 20, 2020 | 10:00 a.m.

Location: Online

Barnetimen (Children’s Hour) is online! Preschoolers and their caregivers are invited to join on our website here or Vesterheim’s Facebook page or YouTube channel.

Connect with Jennifer Kovarik, Vesterheim’s Youth Educator, to explore objects in the museum’s collection and make art inspired by those objects.

This Month: I spy a shape! Shapes, like circles and squares, can be found all around us. Shapes make up the furniture we sit on, the clothes we wear, and even the food we eat! Learn the Norwegian words for different shapes and look for those shapes in the museum and in your home or classroom. Then use a shape and your imagination to create something you see or know.

Materials:
Spyglass – I Spy Shapes! Decorate and cut out this spyglass to look for different shapes around you.

Create with Shapes – Things around us are made out of shapes. Make these shapes into something else using your art supplies and imagination.

Barnetimen meets the third Tuesday of the month, September through April, from 10-10:30 a.m. and is geared toward 3-5 year olds, but all ages are welcome. The program is free of charge and no previous sign-up is necessary.

This program is sponsored by the United States Regional Arts Resilience Fund Phase 1, an initiative of Arts Midwest and its peer United States Regional Arts Organizations made possible by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation; with additional support from local sponsors David and Brenda Carlson and Norwegian Mutual Insurance Association.
