Vesterheim’s annual Folk-Art Banquet puts the “folk” into folk arts! While we often focus our attention on the material objects of folk-art traditions, it’s really the people who bring those traditions to life. And there’s no livelier gathering of folk artists (and those who appreciate Norwegian folk art) than the Folk-Art Banquet!
In addition to the usual scrumptious food and gorgeous setting, this year’s banquet will also feature Hardanger fiddle playing as well as demonstrations by students from the after-school folk-art Klubbs. Come to hear this year’s Norwegian instructors Anne Hesvik, Olav Mortensen, Anneli Engeland, and Britt Solheim talk about the practice of their respective arts in Norway. Congratulate the 2019 Gold Medal winners. And, of course, feast on lefse!
What better way to enhance your celebration of Decorah’s Nordic Fest (July 25-27) than with an evening of fine food and great conversation? The banquet opens at 6:00 p.m. with a cash bar featuring wine and Decorah’s famous Toppling Goliath beer, followed by a buffet dinner beginning at 6:45 p.m.
Reservations are required and the cost per person is $30. Call 563-382-9681 for more information or to make your reservation.
See you there!
