Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah! We enjoyed celebrating Syttende Mai, Norway’s Constitution Day, on May 17 at Vesterheim with a children’s parade through Vesterheim’s Heritage Park, storytelling, a lunchtime webinar with guests from Norway, and lots of fun! This event was made possible by a generous gift to the Vesterheim Annual Fund from Jeff and Marilyn Roverud.
Watch a recording of Norwegian storyteller Anne Elisebeth Skogen, who joined our Syttende Mai event online from Ryfylkemuseet in Sand, Norway, to tell the story My Last 17 Mai in My Hometown, Now as a Red Russ. The 1814 Matching Gift Challenge We are amazed and humbled by your support of the 1814 Challenge yesterday. We are excited to share that your donations on Syttende Mai, including TWO matching gifts of $1,814 from Jeff and Marilyn Roverud, raised over $12,700 for the Vesterheim Annual Fund! As a community of people who support Vesterheim, we are joining together to protect stories, artifacts, and folk-art traditions – and making sure the next generation has a place to explore this important part of our nation’s immigrant history. Tusen takk!
