Kaare Loftheim

Kaare Loftheim was employed with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for 38 years building 18th century furniture exclusively with period hand tools. During the course of his career, he has had the opportunity to study and replicate the construction and aesthetic of innumerable historic pieces of colonial American furniture, sharing the insights gleaned with woodworkers from all over the country. He retired in 2018 as master of the cabinetmakers shop. Since retirement he has taken the opportunity to connect with his Norwegian heritage, carving Norwegian acanthus and exploring the three-legged Norwegian chair form.
