The Extraordinary Aprons of Evelina Grimes

June 1 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

The Extraordinary Aprons of Evelina Grimes Presentation

June 1, 2024 | 1:00 p.m.

Location: Friendship First Foundation, 419 South Urberg, Blair, Wisconsin

Everyone is invited to join Vesterheim Chief Curator Laurann Gilbertson in Blair, Wisconsin, for this fascinating presentation! Presented in part by the Blair Preston Public Library,

Aprons are usually utilitarian accessories, but a large number of aprons, now at Vesterheim, were made by one woman for the reasons of self expression and public entertainment. Evelina Oppegard Grimes was well known to Minnesota community groups in the 1960s and 1970s as the creator of “apron art.” The program introduces Grimes, then focuses on the themes and decorative techniques used on the 122 aprons.

Afternoon tea will include tea, coffee, mini sandwiches, and desserts.

The event is free and open to the public but reservations/tickets are required.

Reserve Ticket Vouchers can be picked up at the local Public Libraries of Blair, Whitehall, Galesville, and Taylor, Wisconsin.
