The Extraordinary Aprons of Evelina Grimes, from Vesterheim, Vol. 6, No. 1, 2008

Vesterheim Chief Curator, Laurann Gilbertson, introduces Evelina Oppegard Grimes, who was well known to Minnesota community groups as the creator of “apron art.” Aprons are usually utilitarian accessories, but these aprons in the collection of Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum, were made by one woman for the reasons of self expression and public entertainment. See some of the aprons and learn the story of each one.
