With the help of renowned international architectural firm Snøhetta, Vesterheim is planning its vibrant, relevant future. The process of developing a Master Plan that looks toward 2025—the Bicentennial of Norwegian immigration to the US—and beyond, is of course a collaborative one. This week staff and trustees met with representatives of Snøhetta and team partner Directional Logic to begin “visioning” what that future will look like.

Matt McMahon, Takeshi Tornier, and Michelle Delk (an Iowa native) from Snøhetta and Martin Gordon from Directional Logic led two workshops, one for staff and one for trustees, to explore ideas and concepts and gather preliminary data. The collaboration will continue over the next several months with an eye to developing three preliminary schematics by the end of the summer.
