Bokprat: Odd Nansen’s “From Day to Day”

Bokprat: A Discussion of Odd Nansen’s From Day to Day with Editor Timothy Boyce

In this recording of an online bokprat (book club) discussion, Dr. Maren Johnson, Luther College’s Associate Professor of Nordic Studies and Torgerson Center for Nordic Studies Director, is joined by Timothy Boyce, editor of the new edition of Odd Nansen’s secret diary From Day to Day: One Man’s Diary of Survival in Nazi Concentration Camps. Privately documenting his three-and-a-half-year internment, Nansen provides readers with a unique examination of the cruel existence in the camp. In a departure from the typical bokprat format, the evening started with a presentation by Timothy Boyce, followed by a Q&A with the participants.

Vesterheim’s free bokprat sessions are generally held once a month and are led by Dr. Maren Johnson. Registrants read the book ahead of time and join in the online Zoom discussion. You can register for upcoming bokprat sessions that are listed here.
